The challenge
Like many community sports clubs, Worcester Bowls Club had seen its energy bills rise steadily. It wanted to cut ongoing costs without compromising the facilities available to members, and the investment needed to make financial sense.
What we installed
After a detailed site survey and analysis of the club’s consumption, we designed a bespoke solar PV system to maximise generation and return on investment.
The club chose not to add battery storage yet, so we fitted a GoodWe inverter that can accommodate batteries later without replacing major components. Batteries would let the club store daytime surplus for the evening, when the clubhouse is busiest, or for periods of higher prices.
- Panels
- 27 × AIKO 475 W
- Inverter
- 20 kW GoodWe (battery-ready)
- Battery
- None installed, system ready for future storage
The result
The system is predicted to generate approximately 3,379 kWh of electricity a year, reducing the club’s reliance on grid electricity and its carbon footprint.
The estimated payback period is 6 years and 10 months, after which the savings can go back into facilities, members and the club’s future.
